2005 Clos de Vougeot Vieilles Vignes: Even at 20 years of age there is almost no secondary character suffusing the pretty, ripe and perfumed dark berry fruit aromas that are liberally laced with spice, especially anise, and violet nuances. There is excellent vibrancy to the large-bodied and imposing flavors that possess excellent mid-palate density along with impressive power and length on the firm and serious finale where the only nit of import is a touch of warmth. This is clearly still developing and while it's not so backward that it couldn't be enjoyed now, another 5ish plus years should inure to its overall appeal. 95/2030+
