La Cuvée La Germine est la cuvée principale du domaine. Elle constitue un exemple typique de Côte-Rôtie du sud de l'appellation Côte-Rôtie.
Elle est composée de 97 % de syrah et 3 % de viognier et est issue de plusieurs lieux dits (Coteau de Tupin, Tupin, le collet, Maison-Rouge, côteau de Bassenon) tous situés sur une roche mère de Gneiss ou Migmatite.
Cette cuvée, à la fois complète et équilibrée, exprime en premier lieu l'élégance de l'appellation Côte-Rôtie.
Conseils de dégustation : Le Côte-Rôtie est un vin de garde. Les amateurs de vieux millésimes les conserveront 10-15 ans avant de les déguster. Cependant le Côte-Rôtie peut s’apprécier dès la mise en bouteille, le vin présentera alors des arômes de fruits noirs, d’épices et une bouche dense caractéristiques des Côte-Rôtie sur leur jeunesse.
Dans tous les cas, nous vous conseillons de carafer votre Côte-Rôtie.

The 2020 Cote Rotie La Germine—assembled from various barrels—offers up a harmonious blend of red raspberries and black olives on the nose. Medium to full-bodied, it's silky textured and long, with just a hint of dark chocolate on the lingering finish. It nicely captures the brothers' preference for soft, elegant wines.
The affable Duclaux brothers were in fine form on the Sunday afternoon I visited with them. Unlike many sibling teams, they haven't really specialized, both working in the vines and in the cellars. According to them, they almost always agree on decisions and talk things out among themselves if they don't agree right away. They farm six hectares in the Tupin-Semons sector of Cote Rotie, purchasing fruit to make their Condrieu. Since 2018, they have been making four cuvées of Cote Rotie: La Chana, a blend meant for wine bars and early drinking; La Germine, the cuvée the brothers say is meant to represent the southern sector of Cote Rotie; Maison Rouge, from the lieu-dit of the same name; and Coteaux de Tupin, also a single-parcel selection but made using 100% whole bunches (most lots get about one-fifth whole clusters). "We like wine from Burgundy," said Benjamin. "So, we like soft, balanced wines." It certainly helps that their terroirs lend themselves to that style. According to Benjamin, "2020 isn't a year with a lot of tannins, but with depth and flesh. It's charming." It suits the brothers' style admirably, while the 2019s here are a bit atypical, with a bit more concentration and tannic strength than the brothers usually capture. As Benjamin said, "2019 is for the long term. It has more of everything."
